Motörhead Unearth Long Lost 1976 Sessions For ‘The Manticore Tapes’

Share

Nearly five decades after it was first recorded, a long buried gem from Motörhead’s early days is finally seeing the light of day. The band has just dropped a raw and rowdy video for ‘Leavin’ Here’, the second single from their upcoming release The Manticore Tapes, out 27 June.

This isn’t just another reissue, The Manticore Tapes digs up the first ever studio recordings from Motörhead’s legendary ‘Three Amigos’ line up. Lemmy Kilmister, ‘Fast’ Eddie Clarke, and Phil ‘Philthy Animal’ Taylor! Captured in 1976 at Emerson, Lake and Palmer’s Fulham studio, the recordings have been stashed away for 49 years. Now in honour of the band’s 50th anniversary, they’ve been resurrected and restored in all their grimy, snarling glory.

The Visuals

The video for ‘Leavin’ Here’ is a gritty mixed media frenzy, smashing together handcrafted models and archival footage. Channelling the chaotic energy of the band’s earliest days!

The track itself hits like a back alley brawl, raw, fast, and full of that unmistakable Motörhead bite.

The Manticore Tapes will land in multiple formats including a deluxe bookpack featuring a double LP, 7” single and expanded artwork, plus standalone LP, CD and digital versions. It includes both studio cuts and rare live performances, including a previously unreleased 1977 show at Barbarella’s in Birmingham.
