Heaven Shall Burn Enlist Jesse Leach For Raging Killswitch Cover Ahead Of New Album ‘Heimat’

Share

German metal titans Heaven Shall Burn are back with a fierce new album “Heimat” featuring a guest spot from Jesse Leach of Killswitch Engage and a surprise live lineup shakeup. Their eleventh full length drops June 27 via Century Media, the rollout has just lit a match under the genre’s shared roots!

Their latest single is a towering cover of Killswitch Engage’s breakout anthem ‘Numbered Days’, featuring Leach himself on guest vocals. It’s both a tribute and a full circle moment. Heaven Shall Burn citing the track as a turning point in their musical DNA. “Killswitch Engage are the metalcore band,” Heaven Shall Burn says “and that song blew us away”. This is our tribute to the band, the era, our friendship.”

Leach returns the love, calling the cover “wild” and “an honour,” recognising the influence Alive or Just Breathing still holds 23 years later.

Meanwhile, Britta Görtz of HIRAES is stepping in to cover live vocals while frontman Marcus Bischoff recovers from a brutal vocal cord infection. The band’s message? They’ve got a plan and they’re not slowing down.

Heimat (meaning “homeland” in German) explores the idea of home in all its complexity. Far beyond borders, blood and flags. Guitarist Maik Weichert frames it as a challenge to populist distortion, “It’s not a boundary, it’s a starting point.”

Produced at their own Dude Ranch Studio, the album is massive in scope. With Sven Helbig, the Mondëna Quartet, and the Sophia Chamber Choir bolstering its apocalyptic atmosphere. The art which is courtesy of Eliran Kantor features a rearing stag caught mid roar, flanked by a lynx and an owl. A triptych drenched in symbolism, defiance, and decay!

Heimat is available in CD, vinyl, Blu-ray, and digital. Pre orders are live now here. Let the resistance begin.
