Everclear kick off their massive ‘Sparkle and Fade’ 30th Anniversary Tour tomorrow, marking three decades since the release of the record that catapulted them into the alt-rock stratosphere. The platinum selling 1995 album spawned the enduring hit ‘Santa Monica’ alongside cult favourites like ‘Heroin Girl’ and ‘Heartspark Dollarsign’, making it a defining release of the decade.
Frontman Art Alexakis is making the anniversary count by pulling the album back into the spotlight. “Sparkle and Fade was the album I had wanted to make my whole life. It changed everything for me and Everclear,” he reflects. “Because of its success and lasting impact, this band has survived and prospered for three decades, and this tour is another way of us saying ‘thank you’ to all of the incredible fans – old and new.”

Everclear: Three Decades Deep
Formed in Portland in 1992, Everclear went on to release 11 studio albums and notch up 12 Top 40 rock singles, including ‘Father of Mine’, ‘Wonderful’, and ‘Everything to Everyone’. They’ve sold over six million records and played thousands of shows, maintaining their reputation as one of alt-rock’s most reliable live acts.
Alexakis, now 62, has remained outspoken about his multiple sclerosis diagnosis while continuing to donate to MS charities through ticket sales. His resilience has only sharpened the urgency of Everclear’s live shows, keeping the fire burning long after their supposed peak.
