Connecticut genre shifters Dreamwake have announced their long awaited sophomore album The Lost Years, heading your way August 8 via UNFD. To mark the moment, they’ve unveiled a gripping new single, ‘Afterglow’ alongside a cinematic, emotionally loaded video that pulls no punches.
‘Afterglow’ dives deep into the ache of loss, not the loud kind, but the slow, suffocating fade of someone slipping into their own darkness. “It’s a plea for connection in the face of emotional distance,” the band explains. “A fight against fading into silence.”
It’s heavy stuff, but Dreamwake don’t just sit in the sadness, they soundtrack it with a sound that’s uniquely theirs. We’re talking Metalcore breakdowns meeting shimmering synthwave and just when you think you’ve got the formula down, a saxophone solo crashes through like neon lightning. It’s unexpected. It’s different. It works.
The four-piece, Bobby Nabors (vocals), Dave Pazik (guitar), Kevin Jacques (bass), Andrew Popolizio (drums) have been stirring up noise from New Haven’s heavy underground, steadily building a reputation for genre bending ambition. Where most bands choose a lane, Dreamwake burn the whole map. Call it post metalcore, synth gaze, or just f**king wild, whatever it is, it really sticks.
The Lost Years follows up 2022’s Virtual Reality and promises another evolution, pairing massive hooks with rich storytelling and futuristic flair. Now signed to UNFD, they’re locked in and levelling up with the future in their hands.
The full tracklist includes titles like ‘VHS Dreams’, ‘Cold Summer’, and ‘Heatwave’, nostalgic, cinematic, and begging to be heard on both headphones and a highway.
Dreamwake aren’t just dropping another metalcore record. They’re dragging the genre forward, horns, heart, and all.
