AFI have shared the second glimpse into their upcoming record Silver Bleeds the Black Sun… with the release of new single Holy Visions. The track arrives with an official video via Run For Cover Records ahead of the album’s October 3 drop.
Where first single Behind the Clock moved like a slow, shadowy burn, Holy Visions brings a sharper edge. Davey Havok’s vocals rise and fracture across a track that leans on post-punk tension but never lets go of AFI’s darker pulse. There’s urgency here, a sense of claws just under the surface, as Jade Puget’s guitar textures shift between shimmering atmosphere and jagged intrusion.

The video, directed by 1888 Productions, leans into AFI’s knack for unsettling aesthetics. Stark imagery and a dreamlike narrative place the song in the same surreal world AFI have been building across decades. It’s an approach that keeps them both timeless and impossible to pin down.

Silver Bleeds the Black Sun… marks the band’s twelfth full-length and promises to push further into the ethereal territory hinted at on their recent work. Track titles like Blasphemy and Excess and Ash Speck in a Green Eye suggest a record steeped in abstraction, but Holy Visions proves AFI still know how to deliver songs that feel immediate, urgent, and alive in the present.

AFI’s fall U.S. tour begins September 30 in Madison, Wisconsin, running through to San Diego on November 5. The run includes stops in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and Chicago, with select dates supported by TR/ST.
